Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a popular treatment that can quickly exfoliate your ski and improve your complexion. At Dr. Dry’s office in Kirkland, we might recommend microdermabrasion for the treatment of:

  • Dull skin
  • Rough skin
  • Minor sun damage/photo-aging

Has your skin become less vibrant over time? Is it dull or damaged as a result of sun exposure? If so, it may be the right time to undergo a thorough exfoliation with a series of microdermabrasion treatments.

What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a simple, non-invasive procedure that uses a combination of suction and abrasion to remove the outermost skin cells.  There are several variations of this procedure, but the basic (or traditional) technique uses crystals to abrade the skin surface while a vacuum removes the dead skin cells.

Is Microdermabrasion right for you?

Microdermabrasion is popular because it is simple, there’s no downtime, and it has a very low risk of side effects. People often choose microdermabrasion when they need a quick improvement, but don’t have time to recover from a laser treatment or chemical peel.

During this treatment, your facial skin is pulled into a handheld applicator, which applies tiny crystals to gently abrade the outer skin layers.  The device is attached to a vacuum, which quickly carries the dead skin cells and crystals into a waste receptacle.

After Your Microdermabrasion

After your microdermabrasion in Kirkland, you can return to your routine immediately. The abrasion is minimal, so no extended healing period is necessary. Because the procedure is mild, expect a modest improvement with each treatment session.  After a series of microdermabrasion treatments, you should notice a significant improvement in your complexion and skin texture. Mild post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is the most common microdermabrasion side effect.
