Juvederm® XC
Juvederm® XC is an injectable gel filler that is FDA approved for the temporary correction of facial wrinkles and folds. Made with stabilized hyaluronic acid, Juvederm is injected beneath the skin to quickly restore volume and reduce the appearance of facial folds. At Dr. Dry’s office in Kirkland, we often recommend Juvederm for treatment of:
- Wrinkles
- Lines
- Marionette lines
- Hollow areas in the mid-face
There are several Juvederm formulas to meet the needs of different patients, including the latest formula, Juvederm XC, that contains lidocaine for a more comfortable injection.
What is Juvederm Injectable Gel?
Hyaluronic acid (HA), the main component in Juvederm, acts as a cushioning and hydrating agent. A naturally occurring substance in your body, HA provides the structure and volume necessary for smooth, youthful skin. Juvederm is a smooth, colorless gel that, when injected, binds with water and combines with the natural hyaluronic acid in your skin.
Is Juvederm Right for You?
Juvederm is suitable for patients of all skin colors and skin types. Because it’s made with a biocompatible, non-animal substance, this filler does not require an allergy test prior to treatment. During your appointment at our Kirkland office, Dr. Dry can determine if Juvederm is a suitable option for you.
What should I expect during Juvederm injection?
During treatment, injection points for Juvederm are determined after carefully evaluating your facial wrinkles. Targeted areas may be numbed with a topical anesthetic to make the procedure comfortable. Using a fine needle and specialized technique, the doctor injects Juvederm to a specific depth beneath the skin.
What to Expect After Treatment with Juvederm
For most patients, the results last 9-12 months. You will need touch-ups and repeat injections to maintain the desired wrinkle correction. Hyaluronic acid fillers are safe and effective when administered by a qualified plastic surgeon.
Side effects are usually minor and last fewer than 7 days. You may have some redness and swelling at the treatment sites for a few days, along with mild bruising or skin firmness.
