Brow Lift
A brow lift is intended to rejuvenate the forehead area by gently elevating the sagging tissue of the forehead. Among the many surgical procedures for facial rejuvenation, the brow lift is one of the most popular options.
The procedure can help reduce forehead lines, restore a youthful arch in your eyebrows, “open up” the eye area, and thereby improve your appearance.
Is a Brow Lift Right for You?
A person’s brow can gradually descend over time, leading to many age-related wrinkles, furrows and folds that detract from one’s appearance. Conditions such as the following are common signs of this occurrence:
- Frown lines
- Crow’s feet
- Flat or low brow
- Loose upper eyelid skin
If you exhibit the above signs of aging, you may be a good candidate for brow lift surgery with Dr. Gavin Dry.
What Happens During Brow Lift Surgery?
The goal of a brow lift is to provide a natural aesthetic improvement. To achieve this, the doctor may need to evaluate your conditions and understand how aging has affected your face and brow. This could involve studying your photos from years ago, so we can see what has changed and understand the proper appearance of your youthful brow.
Plastic surgeons now perform several alternative brow lift techniques. The preferred method today is the endoscopic technique. With small incisions, the doctor can effectively elevate the brow and minimize your downtime.
With an endoscopic brow lift, Dr. Dry uses an instrument to view your underlying forehead tissues during surgery. 3 – 5 incisions are made behind your hairline, allowing Dr. Dry to gently lift and fixate the brow tissues. The incisions are then closed with small stitches or clips. The whole procedure requires about 1 to 2 hours, usually under local anesthesia.
How Will I Look and Feel After a Brow Lift?
A soft absorbent dressing is applied to the site. If stitches or staples are used, they can be removed within one week. Dr. Dry will provide specific instructions to follow during recovery, which typically includes detailed steps on:
- When you can shower and shampoo
- Limitations on exercise and sun exposure
- Using medications to control discomfort
- How to care for and monitor the treated area
Recovery time is about 7–10 days with a brow lift, but may require more time depending on the specific technique performed. It’s common to experience some numbness, incision discomfort and nausea during recovery from a brow lift.
