Botox Cosmetic in Kirkland
Botox Cosmetic is an incredibly popular cosmetic treatment, here in Kirkland and around the world. Derived from botulinum toxin, Botox works by preventing nerve impulses from reaching the muscle, causing the muscle to relax.
Dr. Dry frequently recommends Botox® injections for minimizing fine wrinkles and other contour irregularities.
Is Botox the right treatment for you?
Botox is FDA approved for cosmetic and therapeutic use, in treatments such as:
- Wrinkle reduction of glabellar lines
- Treatment of hyperhidrosis
- Muscle spasm treatment
- Migraine headache prevention
Botox is not recommended for patients with an infection at the proposed injection site or those with known sensitivity to botulinum toxin medications.
What to Expect During Your Botox® Injection
Your Botox treatment will be performed here in our Kirkland office. The procedure can usually be completed in 15 – 20 minutes in most cases. The doctor identifies the injection points, determines the proper dose and then administers a Botox injection.
How Will I Look After Botox?
The changes will not be visible immediately. It takes approximately 4 – 8 days for Botox results to become apparent. There's no downtime after the injection, so you'll be able to return to work or your normal routine right away. Doctor Dry may provide special instructions to help you miniize the risk of post-injection side effects.
Are there alternatives to Botox?
Despite the popularity of Botox, many people are still misinformed about how it works and how it compares to other wrinkle treatments. There are other products, such as Dysport and Xeomin, that contain botulinum toxin; however Botox is still the most common product used by plastic surgeons. In many cases, patients present wrinkles that are not treatable with Botox, but more suitable for treatment with a wrinkle filler such as Juvederm or Radiesse. Dr. Dry can discuss these alternatives and recommend the best treatment for your conditions.
Are there any possible Botox side effects?
Do not undergo Botox treatment if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if you have experienced an allergic reaction to another product containing botulinum toxin. Possible adverse events include redness, bruising, stinging, nausea, fatigue and eyelid droop. Ask Dr. Dry for more information if you are concerned about side effects.
